Volunteer Activities
Please check as many
activities as you can support:
Tournaments
Volunteer are needed to coordinate events, solicit food
donations as well as provide and serve meals. Financial donations are, of
course, always welcome. Volunteers may be requested to judge various
tournaments.
Provide and
serve food and drinks
During play rehearsals and performances, there is a
great need for food and drink donations as well as volunteers to serve.
Fundraising
One of the major tasks that the Booster Club is charged
with is to raise revenue to assist our actors and debaters in further improving
their skills. Students attend camps in the summer and the seniors need
scholarships to attend colleges and universities. Some of the past activities
include garage sales, car washes, bake sales, and working at area restaurants
where they receive tips. In addition, some net proceeds from concessions at
performances go to the scholarship cause. Parents must be members of the
Booster Club in order for their children to be eligible for scholarship.
Concessions
During the various performances, there is a need for
people to work at the concession stands as well as sell tickets in the ticket
booths. If food and/or gifts are involved, volunteers are needed to set up,
work in the booths as well as tear down the booths at the end of the
performances. As the concessions are huge components for the fundraising
effort, it is critical that there are a large number of volunteers to help.
Programs
Specifically with the musical production, the play
program is a major effort produced by the Booster organization. Help is
required in many areas such as solicitation of advertising, layout of the ads,
interaction with the printer and distribution of the program. A coordinator for
this project is essential to its success.
Advertising
In addition to the program, flyers and posters need to
be copied, displayed and distributed in local businesses. This is a great
activity to work in teams to cover all of Carrollton with posters featuring our
great musical in November.
Judging Events
Judges are always needed for tournaments, especially
since Creekview will be hosting two important competitions this year. There is
training available if someone has not judged before. More to follow…
Costumes/Props
Volunteers are always needed during the performances to
work behind-the-scenes with costumes, props and make-up. This activity usually
requires 2-3 people to assist.
